what you, as a parent, need to know
about salary sacrifice childcare voucher schemes

Companies can offer childcare vouchers for childcare services to any parents on their staff.

As the childcare vouchers are tax exempt, you could benefit from an extra £75 per month in take home pay in return for a salary sacrifice.

A child qualifies for childcare vouchers up to 1st September following their fifteenth birthday (or if disabled their sixteenth birthday).

Both parents can qualify for tax-free childcare vouchers up to the value of £2,915 per tax year, regardless of the number of children.

So, a family is eligible for £5,830 worth of tax free childcare if both parents are working.

And this need not add a penny to your company’s overhead!

As part of your employer’s Parentbond scheme, you will receive childcare vouchers, preprinted with your details, instead of salary to that value.

Parentbond childcare vouchers can be used for childminders, pre-school nurseries, crèches, play schemes, after-school clubs and holiday clubs.

You will be free to take the childcare vouchers to the childcare provider of your choice. The childcare provider must be registered with the government.

As part of a Parentbond scheme, you, your company and your chosen childcare provider will all have access to the Parentbond Childcare Voucher Scheme Helpline – helpful, friendly, expert advice on all aspects of childcare vouchers.
